Players On Notice

  • Trent McKenzie: Managed just one AFL game in 2018. Injuries reduced his opportunities to demonstrate his skills in the SANFL. Was given a one year contract extension to see if he can make presence on the field in 2019.
  • Matthew Broadbent: Injury has kept him out of the AFL side since Round 15 2017. With Port’s 2018 defence performing so well, and having a plethora of similar players, it could be hard for Broadbent to lock in a spot this year.
  • Jack Watts: After a tumultuous off-season Jack is hoping to let his footy do the talking in 2019. Kicked only 18 goals from 19 AFL games in 2018 as a high half-forward. While the output was only a slight dip from his 2017 output with the Demons, half of the total came from 3 games of 3 goals. Is set to play on the wing in 2019 where he can roam around more and hopefully be more involved.

Players To Lookout For In 2019

  • Travis Boak: Slated to spend more time back in the midfield look out to see how he performs freed of the pressure of being captain
  • Hamish Hartlett: Returning from his ACL injury last year, and recently promoted to vice-captain. Will play off half-back again where he’s played his best footy recently.
  • Ryan Burton: New to the club via Wingard trade after coming 2nd in the 2017 Rising Star. Expected to start at half-back but may spend time further up the ground.
  • Connor Rozee: Our top draftee who has taken Wingard’s no. 20 and has shown he’s got the agility, speed and skills to be an excitement machine. Likely to play round 1.
  • Patrick Ryder: With the addition of Lycett to tag in the ruck, will be able to showcase his best in the centre and when he goes up forward, as he’ll spend a lot more time playing as a forward in 2019.
  • Scott Lycett: New to the club after coming off a premiership with West Coast. Offers the backup to Paddy in the ruck and has already proven he can play a forward/ruck role.
  • Todd Marshall: Third year in the AFL and looking to have a breakout year after showing incredible potential despite a devastating off-feld in 2018. Will have plenty of tall support so should have a great opportunity to develop.
  • Dougal Howard: Looks like becoming one of the best key defenders in the game having had the most spoils in the competition last year (despite playing 4 less games than the 2nd place Rance). Look for him to start turning those spoils into intercept marks as Douuugs develops his game even further.
  • Brad Ebert: Has taken on a new role playing as a marking forward, he will be replacing Boak as a forward option who can run up the ground and has the tank to do so repeatedly while also being a strong mark overhead.

2019 Expectations

  • Finishing 7th to 10th.
  • A dominant ruck duo when they’re both on the park.
  • A lot of shuffling small-medium sized players between the flanks, wings and midfield before the team settles on default setups that works for the club.

Concerns for 2019

  • Remaining with a stagnant game-plan and poor transition football.
  • Continuing to fail at fully developing rising stars into stars.
  • Coaches failing to adapt to the significant rule changes.
  • Lack of quality ball movers/outside players.
  • One paced and one sided – large chunk of our best players are slow and right-footed.

Optimism for 2019

  • New coaches bringing change to our gameplan/style.
  • Have obtained backup for the most important/vulnerable role in the team (Ryder) which cost us heavily in 2018
  • No lack of effort - one of the best tackling and pressure sides in the competition which shouldn’t be expected to change.
  • Highly rated draftees likely to debut.
  • Capable of beating the best teams in 2018, should go close in 2019.
  • Easier fixture? (who really knows though)

Looking ahead to 2019

Putting the nightmares of the last two years behind us, Port are looking to return to the more forward focused style of play that excited fans, won games by healthier margins and allowed for fast scoring. Wholesale change to the coaching department has been applauded, with the reuniting of 3 Port premiership players that also have established coaching credentials to lead our defence, midfield and ruck departments.
The club has been bold in its desire to change in pursuit of a premiership with a list that is certainly capable of finals football. Pushing out Wingard and Polec whilst also facilitating the trades of Pittard and Hombsch was a risky decision that has not been appreciated by all fans. Coupled with the abandoning of the club’s history of a single captain wearing the No. 1 has led to many fans feeling as though we’re not heading in the right direction. The demands and expectations are now heavy as the team needs to find some results or Hinkley will likely lose his job.
All is not lost however, and while many have been quick to declare Port’s 2017 trade period a bust there is still much upside left in our 3 big recruits: Tom Rockliff, Jack Watts and Steven Motlop. The decision to trade our 2017 first pick also appears to have been a wise one, having been used the year before to ensure we secured both Sam Powell-Pepper and Todd Marshall who have both shown incredible potential. Coupled with a top 4 defence for the last 2 years whose average age is only 24 and three top 20 picks in the 2018 draft and the future is in safe hands at Port Adelaide.

TL; DR:
We’re definitely twirling somewhere, we just hope it’s to success.

Massive thanks to Anonunga who has put most of this together and made everything super easy with formatting etc. Also credit to those who participated at /weareportadelaide in determining a best 22. We've got a lot of fringe players so this wasn't easy!

2014.12.17 16:20 ThundaHawke From a hardcore, no-life player: All I want for Christmas is my Archeage account back (Cliffs @bottom)

**** UNBANNED BY TRION, thanks Mr. Hartsman. GG.
CLIFFS:
Autobanned almost a week ago by a Trion script while lagging/desyncing on a merchant ship.
If profs were uncapped, I'd have an estimated ~400k commerce prof, 250k fishing.
Well over 100k honor farmed mostly through arena, 1v1s.
never so much as afked at a training dummy or used numlock to afk run my mount in circles over night.
Hoping for a Trion employee to restore my dwindling faith in their operation during this holiday season.
Dear Trion,
I never participated in the NA Archeage alpha or beta and, in fact, never even knew of this game's existence until a couple days before launch via a friend. Initially, I only downloaded it to test out a new monitor I'd purchased. I had no expectations and no hopes.
Not being a founder, I owned 0 properties for the first ~month of the game apart from an 8x8 farm which I split with a friend. I wasn't even a peasant when I began.
I went from solo running donkey packs to repeatedly running 3-4 two crowns milk packs on my galleon, which I obtained by doing every daily every day for over a month.
Eventually, the friend that got me into this game obtained a merchant ship and I quickly rose to 90k commerce from all the packs we ran. Between commerce and my 90k fishing, I imagine I've turned in more tradepacks and fish myself than many small guilds combined. My play time has been 8+ hours a day, nearly every day.
A thousand or more gameplay hours in almost four months, holy shit. No life. GG.
My guild has bled players for months now. Majority of those players who have left were no long able to tolerate certain (perhaps justifiably) terrible aspects of the game and Trion World's management including but not limited to: --- unforgiving RNG, rampant exploiters/ botters/ landgrab hackers, extremely limited communication between the Devs and playerbase, releasing Hasla T3 despite 89.9999% of players being emphatically outspoken against it, P2W, the catastrophic handling of Auroria release, the missing 10% patron marketplace discount, etc.
I personally have never spoken ill of this game. Seriously. Though I acknowledge its faults, I tell people this is the most fun I've had in an MMO for over a decade.
I've spent ~500 USD on Trion credits and APEX with few regrets. I've enjoyed myself and really wasn't planning on leaving any time soon. That's what troubles me the most about my recent ban.
On Friday the 12th, I was disconnected while escorting my friend's merchant ship after lagging and desyncing ('rough sea winds' debuff spam x1231231) for a period. As I was lagging out, I received a red-text chat message notifying me that I'd been temporarily banned from chatting. Further attempts to get past the login server failed.
I checked my email, read the "Greetings from Trion Worlds", and immediately sent a ticket to the appeals address. Browsing the forums, I came across the testimonials of people who'd been false-positive autobanned and were made to wait over 2 weeks and, in some cases, over a month to have their cases addressed by the appeals team. I acknowledge that it must take awhile to get to the front of the line through a veritable sea of botter accounts, especially if there aren't enough staff on hand at Trion. Sucks, but...
This is the part where I solemnly swear to you that I have never, ever cheated/hacked/exploited/botted/used third-party mods in any online game I've played. In a previous MMO, Planetside 2, I was a very well-known player who reported numerous individuals for hacking despite them being on pretty friendly terms with me. If I knew you and saw you hacking, I gave you up.
I never even exploited bugs in games like Diablo 2 when I knew of their existence. Never even duped after I got bored.
I have always been an honest player. Never scammed. Never cheated. Never even once considered using cheats to "even the playing field" with supposed hackers. Never been banned in online gaming, ever, or even felt like I was in danger of being banned.
If it is at all possible to accelerate my appeal into the hands of a senior GM or any human being, really, I'd appreciate that extra nudge so much.
I like Archeage a lot. Honestly, the most disheartening thing about being auto-banned is, even if I do make it to the front of the queue and become unbanned in a month or so, my guild might be dead/dissolved and most of my friends gone from the game. I might not even be able to find the motivation to play again if enough time passes. That'd be tragic.

Now that I can't play my account, I may continue to upload from my archives. If you have a few moments to check my videos, please do. I hope they'll help convince people of my legitimacy.
If you've read this all, then thank you. All I want for Christmas is my Archeage account unbanned.
I know you're probably all very busy at Trion, but all I can do at this point is hope and ask nicely.

Questions Answers
So what does a manager at a stripclub do? Do you have to hire and fire strippers? Also how does the hiring process go? I work at a smaller club so I barback, security, countdown the money, do bank runs, light tech support, hire independent contractors (dancers), make employment decisions with staff, and inventory.
How do you advertise for independent contractors and what type of legal framework do you need to get them to sign? We don't yet advertise for dancers but girls walk in and ask if they can work. We have them sign an independent contractor agreement.
How much does a dance earn? An attractive dancer can earn upwards of $400 per night. We've gotten much busier since I started so that figure could be higher.
Where do you work? City wise that is. I work in Atlanta and make between 500-1500 dollars for 8-12 hours of work. If the highest earners at your club are only making 400 a night, it sounds like a pretty small Club. Jacksonville and it's more of an average. I've had girls walk out with $700 on a slow night.
Ever had sex with a stripper you work with? I haven't. It's understood that I won't get in trouble for it but choose not to.
Any "over the top" stripper names? We had a 300 pound black girl try to apply. She wanted to go by the name "Chocolate Thunda" As far as I know, my pole can't take that much weight.
Why does everyone freak out when I jump up on stage in GTA? Sometimes people don't know when to hang up the G-string and sometimes they don't care. This might be one of those times.
All the girls are going to med school right? i didn't get swindled by a naked woman did i? Sure. I know I wouldn't want any of them to be my doctor though.
2 questions: (1) anyone famous ever come there? (2) can I get a job as a strip pole? I live in a town with an NFL team and have had players come in but that's as far as I've seen in 6 months.
Sorry, currently full in the pole department.
Does it matter if I'm really skiny tall and black. I can paint myself brass and stand really still (I volunteer at a children's hospital on Halloween as a scarecrow so I have experience)? I wouldn't want you to bring whatever the girls would rub onto you in a children's hospital. Although, I think a C3PO costume would work out well for you.
full in the pole department. Hiyooo! :-D.
Make the ladies wanna "do the robot" amirite? Haha. That would be a great icebreaker at a costume party!
Craziest thing you've ever seen? These guys came in with their own bottle of liquor and were smoking weed. When I went to kick them out they tried to say they weren't together and that they didn't have a bottle. The reason we caught them was because they were waving the bottle around. They were also throwing pennies at the girl on stage. Their retort? "I didn't throw pennies at her, she threw them at me." Seriously, where is a stripper going to hide pennies? One of the guys wanted to take our glass with him because he said he paid for the drink, he forgot to mention it was at the liquor store, not at our club. They had been in there several times before and always started something so now they're not allowed back in.
How did you get the job? My friend who is the DJ put in a recommendation for me to the other manager.
What are the working hours (you mentioned 50 hours, but what is weekly shifts)? I work Thursday through Monday from 6PM to about 4AM.
Have you ever refused a contractor to come work for you? It's just a fact of the business.
Do you endorse / accept that contractors might do "private 1-1 contracts" outside of the club? The main ones right now are the Xanex and coke. There used to be girls that would shoot up roxies (sp?) in the bathroom. Got rid of those real quick.
You mentioned contractors have vices, and some have had issues dealing with their vices on stages / in club, could you call out a favorite? The dancers pay a bar fee. It's $5 on Sunday through Thursday if they do two or more VIP, it's mandatory on Friday and Saturday. Each VIP dance they do is $30 to the customer. Of that $30 they pay $5 to the bar. At the end of the night, they tip out the DJ 10%, management $5, and the door guy a minimum of $2. They are considered on time for the night before 9:00, after 9 they are supposed to pay a late fee of $20.
The offered contract for contractors, what does it include, e.g., do that have to pay the establishment a daily fee for using the stage, I mean how do you earn money from the contractors. I know from the patrons you earn through door fees and drinks. My pay comes through the tips from my minimum wage for hourly, tips from the girls, and the bartenders tipout 10% for me barbacking.
Where do you work? Those are some CHEAP house fees! Yup, cheapest in town for the dancers.
How many contractors work on a given night? During the week around 10-15, weekends 25ish.
Why do they give dj's 10%? why doesn't the club just hire a dj and pay him a salary? He gets minimum wage like I do. That's his tipout for playing the music she wants and announcing her to the stage and her not having to use a jukebox like some other clubs do.
Are you bald? No offense if you are, I just imagine all strip club managers to be bald. 26 with a full head of hair.
I think you should start Mach3'ing that bad boy in order to get taken more seriously in the industry. I'm pretty sure the stress will take a good chunk of it out.
I imagine there are more than you can count, but what stresses you out the most? Girls bickering with each other over the littlest things. Sometimes it's like babysitting drunk toddlers with some.
Legend has it that drug use is very common among strippers. Is this true? Does it become a work issue much? (Too overdosed/underdosed to work?) All of them have a vice. Some drink, some smoke pot, and some get on to harder stuff. I've seen girls fall asleep on stage from some of the stuff that they're on. Hard to see but you can only tell them so many times about how the shit is not good for them.
So, in short, legend is true.
Do you act on this (warning, fired, etc) or do you accept this as part of the business? I mean a girl falling asleep on stage can hardly be called profitable. I normally just give warning to the girl. It's only happened when it was very slow.
How old is the oldest stripper in your club? We have a woman in her mid 40's with very large fake breasts.
Ever motorboat those? And are they built for power or for speeed? When I was a customer I did. More power than speed but they're on a pretty even keel.
How many pineapples does the tree normally produce? 37.
I do believe that was in the wrong thread. My apologies. Anyways, what is the most amount of money you have seen someone spend while at your strip club? No worries, seemed like a random question so I gave it a random answer.
I only see the guys money if he gets a bunch of private dances or gets cash out from the bar. Had a guy get out about $2k by himself.
Is there sex in the champagne room? We don't have a champagne room but my friend (the DJ who got me the job) used to work at a club that did and he never saw it happen.
What's the worst bachelor party you've seen? Three guys came in and were celebrating. They wanted bottle service but ended up sticking to beer. They didn't really go up to the stage and tip nor did they buy the bachelor a dance. It wasn't "bad" but it was definitely sad.
What are the official rules on touching and intimacy and what are the unofficial boundaries that you actually enforce? It's more about what the girl is comfortable with as far as touching. She'll let you know but it's best to start off letting her make that call.
Also, do the girls ever take a client back to a hotel or similar for 'extras'? I'm sure it happens but anything like that is hidden from management.
What do you wear to work? Black button down shirt, black slacks, black shoes.
What do you do when ugly chicks apply? Sometimes we hire them but most of the time we tell them our roster is full and can't hire them. The other manager has been wanting to use a line on a bigger / older woman that is hilarious. "It seems that you have more experience than we are looking for in this position"
Have to include a little pause in there "you have more...experience...than we are looking for" Was trying to think of a way to have it come out like that in print. That's how he says it when we're talking about it.
How many of the strippers are escorts? Also do you call them dancers or strippers? I try to search the internet to see if any of them are so I can watch out for that and as far as I know, I don't have any that work at my club.
I tend to use dancer and tend to use "stripper" when they aggravate me.
These goddamn strippers! If I had a dollar for every time I said, "Fucking Strippers" or "Goddamn strippers," I'd own the club.
What pisses you off the most about the dancers/strippers? Some of them think that a little issue that could be easily solved by just letting me know is better solved by bringing in everyone else around them.
How often (if at all) do you have to deal with mob types? Do you have any notable stories? The worst one was a group of Mexican gangsters who tried to get in without paying or showing IDs. There were four of them and just me and my door guy that night. When I asked for the first one's ID, he got in my face and started a staredown. I kept staring back and he didn't like it and wanted me to stop. While this is going on, his buddy picked up a chair like he was going to hit me with it. While this is going on, my DJ that night had his finger on the panic button that calls the cops (they will get there in less than a minute). I ended up throwing them all out. I later found out they had 3 outside in wait. I'm currently in the process of buying a small firearm and taking training classes just in case.
Good idea. Remember to practice and train regularly- it's a perishable skill. Come on over to /ccw and say hello if you want. I'm actually going to the range today. This AMA took up a lot of my free time today.
Is "Pour Some Sugar On Me" the best stripper song of all time? Surprisingly it's either not played often or I have tuned it out so well. I prefer our DJs to play newer club/dance music.
"Sail" by AWOLNATION is the new "Pour Some Sugar On Me" So true, bothers the shit out of me.
Has your employment had any adverse effects on relationships you may be in? I don't have time for relationships but it's a great way to break the ice when meeting new people. Most women I've talked to have been pretty cool about it.
Seems legit, ever give a date a job? Not yet. Don't think I'd want to see anyone I'm romantically involved with while I'm at work. Amazingly, it's quite a luxury to have a reason to be away from my personal life.
Have any women come in looking as if they haven't bathed for days, then clean up there right before the show? Have you had any really high women come in to work and have you had to turn them away for the night? I haven't seen it to where they don't look like they've bathed but we did have a female who used the sink in the women's bathroom to bathe. She tried to tell the other manager that I said it was okay for her to work there and she was trying to clean up. She was a very large woman whom I had actually never saw, I'm pretty sure she just heard my name when the bartender called for me and went with that. Not had them come in high but one got so drunk that I sent her home. She called her ride then threw the phone at me. It wasn't until the 3rd time she told me to fuck off that I fired her. It's pretty hard to get fired from my club. She called me a couple weeks later and asked what happened then apologized. I let her come back to work and haven't had any major issues since.
How do you maintain a working environment for the contractors behind the "scene", e.g., what type of facilities do you provide? From what I'm told by the dancers is that we have one of the best dressing rooms in town for them. In the dressing room we have a single stall shower, mirrors all over, and lockers. There are electrical sockets to plug in blow driers and hair straighteners as well.
Since you're the manager of the place and seemingly *not an owner... I'm not an owner but wouldn't mind being one in several years. The owners have had several businesses over the years. Banks will not give loans out to buy a club so you have to already have the cash to buy a club. The owners come in almost every day to check on their business and everyone at the club knows them.
Does the owner have a lot of clubs or does he prefer to stay out of the scene due to other businessess that would be harmed by him owning said place? The owner currently owns several places and as far as I know, doesn't really tell anyone about the club. I don't think it's because it will hurt his business, he's just older and doesn't go out to meet new people.
I might as well ask the inevitable - how much money do you make and is it worth the hours? I make about as much as I would in middle management of a corporation. I work about 50 hours a week, sometimes more. Since I've been there, I've increased sales about 25%. Gotta say, feels good and it's worth it.
How many dollars a fortnight or month are we talking here? Above 40k per year. Damn good for my state. Average household income in my city is 50k.
You know, 40k and 50 hours ain't that bad at all. I've worked more for less money and didn't get to see naked broads. The job has its perks.
How gross/used up/cracked out are the girls that work there? We only have a couple that would fit that description without their makeup. A lot of things have changed since I started there.
Have you ever tried to talk a stripper out of stripping to pursue another career? Not yet but I could see that happening. A lot of them don't have any marketable skills and dancing is easy money for them.
Is your club clean do your bounce staff show proper respect for patrons ? What type of clean are you referring to? We tidy up and have a cleaning guy that comes in if that's what you mean.
Proper respect is how everyone starts. If someone brings in their own booze, smoke weed in the club, or are just insanely rude to the girls, we just end up throwing them out.
I'm curious about what strategies you used to increase sales by 25% in 6 months. How do you get people to spend more at a strip club? Hire more attractive dancers and get rid of the ugly ones while still maintaining variety. I talk to regulars regularly and they bring their friends. I've created a website for the club and keep it pretty simple for the customer.
Makes sense, though not everyone would be able to pull that off. Thanks for responding. Now I'm wondering how that conversation would go, y'know, when you tell a stripper she's no longer attractive enough for your club. Any particularly outrageous reactions? They kind of just stop dancing when the money stops coming in. A lot of crying is how it goes. It's very draining emotionally so I can't fire two in one night.
Link? Sorry, but no. Location information is on the website.
How often do you get a boner at work? The saddest day was when the words, "meh, they're just boobs" left my mouth. I've been very desensitized but I get them from time to time still.
If you hire a girl, and she works for you for years, and then she starts getting older and less attractive but she's still working there, do you fire her? Like if she doesn't want to quit? How does that work? From what I've seen they just start coming in less and less until they just don't come in anymore. It takes care of itself.
How much cocaine... Do any of the strippers not use any drugs? Just hired a girl that came out of a tough situation. Her ex knocked her teeth out and she used to be on drugs and nasty shit. She's sobered up and didn't even want to come back to dancing because her son is sick and in the hospital. Sad shit to see. She's sensitive about her teeth and has a retainer in and will soon be going to the dentist to fix her teeth. She's been sober a year and doesn't even drink.
The regular that brought her in to work there was the one that told me this.
What are some of the oddest/creepiest patrons you've ever seen? Had a guy that was telling the girls he had killed somebody before and just generally creepy. I kept eyes on him and when he had tried to slap my bartender's ass I stood over near him but behind the bar. He got the idea that he should go and got up to leave. On his way out he tried to kiss the bartender. I was just shocked and almost dropped his ass right there but he just left. Best part, he was driving a windowless white van. Definitely the creepiest.
Oddest guy (and hey, everyone has their thing so I'm not judging) is a guy that goes to different clubs around town. He gets dances from girls but doesn't want them to dance. Instead he wants them to describe to him, in detail, about how he is a turkey and how she is basting him.
Do you wash your hands every 5 minutes, or every 5 seconds? Nanoseconds. I constantly wash my hands or use germ-x.
What inspired/made you feel like becoming a strip club manager? or was it just an opportunity you couldn't pass up? Pardon the pun but it sort of fell into my lap.
Best thing you've ever seen happen? About a week ago, our maintenance guy was drunk at the bar and lit an alcohol soaked rag on fire. He then took it out the side door and kind of kicked it around with this look on his face that he didn't know why it was on fire.
I've been calling him Johnny Flame ever since.
So how does one start/run a strip club? Do I just round up a few pretty ladies, rent an office space, and then go to town? Or is there more to it? Depends where you live. I know the city where I live is trying to shut down clubs and you gotta have proper zoning. You always need a good lawyer too.
Who is in charge of naming the girls? Also, what is your preferred weapon to use on dead-beats? They pick their own name and my preferred weapon is cops. Funny how people suddenly have money when they're faced with going to jail.
I haven't been to a strip club, but have always wondered if there's any bombshells/10's? Sure there are. I'm spoiled living in FL though.
Any of the girls have relationships? I've always wondered how a dancer maintained a real relationship with work such as that. My ex used to dance while we dated. The dancing wasn't what broke us up but rather being two young people that just fell apart. Many of the girls have boyfriends but most of them are trashy. She's at the club all night dancing and he's always going out and partying on her dime. Sad shit all around.
I have known a couple of dancers and their lives are a mess. Both were deep into meth and basically hated men (and loved women). Do you see anything like this with your hires? All the time. That's why it's so hard to get fired from my club. Some of the girls have nowhere else to go after working with us. You can only help so much though.
Do bands really make her dance? I have a ban on 2 Chainz. Seriously fuck that I'm different song. The mildly amusing thing about that song is that it is in no way different, at all.
What's your and the dancers' education level? I have some college and have work experience in corporate jobs. As far as the dancers, it varies from high school dropout to college degree.
What is the application and interview process like for the dancers? Ideally, I'd like to see them in a bikini because clothes can hide a lot. Typically we have them sign the paperwork and try it out for a few nights. Most of the time, they've already danced in other clubs.
Why won't Ariel get to the main stage like the DJ asks? She's probably high and not paying attention.
Please tell us a funny incident that has occurred. Girl falling asleep while twirling on the pole was pretty funny.
